Exeter Independent Study (EIS)

"Independent study (California Education Code [ECsections 51744–51749.6External link opens in new window or tab.) is provided as an alternative instructional strategy. Independent study pupils work independently, according to a written agreement and under the general supervision of a credentialed teacher or teachers. While independent study pupils follow the district-adopted curriculum and meet the district graduation requirements, independent study offers flexibility to meet individual pupil's needs, interests, and styles of learning."

Exeter Unified School District offers an independent study program for students, grades 7-12, through an online based program called Edgenuity and is aligned with EUSD's grade level standards.  Exeter Independent Study is overseen by Kaweah High School's administrator.  All independent study students are expected to attend weekly zoom meetings with a certificated instructor.

Independent study students are expected to work independently and therefore requires basic academic skills, a high level of commitment from both parents and students, be self motivated and self directed, as well as skilled in time management and organization to be successful in this alternative form of education.
